Declaration of Solidarity by the Students’ Union Executive Commitee of
the University of Osnabrueck in Germany

The Students’ Union Executive Comittee of the University of Osnabrueck
declares solidarity with the Iranian protest movement and their
struggle against the theocratic Iranian regime. We express solidarity
with the resistance against the election fraud of June 2009 which led
to the re-election of Mahmud Ahmadinejad.
We agree with the movement in its assertion that the religious
persecution of minorities and so called “infidels” must end. It is
evident the religious influence on education and matters of privacy
must be stopped in order to insure individual freedom. Nobody should be obliged to obey to the islamistic morals, that are particularly forced upon the women of Iran. Furthermore, we strongly support the movement's effort to achieve gender equality and to stop the repression of homosexual people.
We aim to state clearly that freedom of the press is an unalienable
democratic right as is the freedom of speech and must not be denied
anyone; therefore, all persecution of dissidents, democrats and
students must be stopped. In addition, we support the movement's
demand to release the political prisoners in Iran.
In additon to these declarations of our support of the demands made by
the Iranian protest movement, we state the opinion that the
political isolation of Iran can only be overcome by the democratic
protest movement as only it will cause Iran to cease in its threats
against the western world and Israel, thereby facilitating
international relations and assistance.
Thus, only a change toward democracy can guarantee peace and human
rights which should bring an end to the Iranian nuclear programme.
As long as these demands are suppressed, resistance must not stop;
therefore, we give the progressive students movement our full support.
